The phenomenon of Youtube has made it possible for people all around the world to create their own content for media consumption. These people, whether they are amateurs or professionals, have complete control over the creative content that they post to the worldwide web. With many videos’ entertainment hinging on Shock and Awe value it begs the inquiry of where the lines of reality are drawn in these videos.
Daniel Stiepleman’s ‘Short Commercial’ production class at NYU has taken on the initiative, via an experiment, to discover how easy or difficult it is to deceive the Internet audiences.
How many people of the Internet audience can accurately decipher fake videos from real ones? We ask of you, your friends and your family to take part in our experiment. By visiting the site below you will receive access to all the videos our class has created with a decision to make on each video. Is it a Doc or Not? After you’ve made your picks you will have the opportunity to see your score and how it compared to others.
